MITSUBISHI - NEW VEHICLE AND CX VR TRAINING

  • THE CHALLENGE

The new vehicle model would not be available in time for the scheduled training.

New model sales training for the Eclipse Cross was already scheduled across the country and the vehicle was going to be deployed to dealerships soon.

  • THE SOLUTION

Designed a VR simulation that was cost effective and portable.

Using 360 Imagery/video and Google Cardboard, my team and I created a training solution in 3 weeks that could be deployed to Dealers across the country in time for the training and the vehicle release.

  • THE IMPACT

The VR strategy enabled Dealers for the new model release
    • Able to educate a greater numbers of sales staff
    • Reduced the cost of training
    • Saved on transportation costs
    • Received the 2018 Summit Emerging Media Award

    Adoption of VR
The Response from the Dealers was so enthusiastic that Mitsubishi decided to include VR in each quarterly national training initiative going forward.

MY ROLE: Project Lead, Strategy, Instructional Design, Content Writer, Co-UI/UX Designer

QUICK, LOW COST, PORTABLE

By utilizing these simple, yet effective tools (Google Cardboard, 360 camera, Wonda VR) we were able to complete the entire project in 3 weeks. This approach allowed MMNA salespeople to experience the vehicle as if they were standing right next to it or sitting inside it.

The experience was delivered on participants’ smartphones and each participant was provided a Google Cardboard viewer which also served as a take-home item for refresher training and for use with customers back at the dealership.

Explore the Exterior

Learners explore the exterior by looking around in their 360 environment and selecting hotspots to learn more. Hotspots pull up simple popups with additional information.

Explore the Interior

Selecting the door handle on the exterior brings you inside the vehicle where you can explore the interior and can get familiar with the new technology and features.

A Sense of Scale

Dealers needed to learn and experience the new laser radar and camera technology. BY using the 360 VR medium, we were able to show something that was otherwise invisible and let learners experience the actual scale and range of the radar.

Go for a Test Drive

The most important step in the customer experience is the test drive. We recorded 360 video of a test drive to show Dealers what they needed to highlight to their customers, and provided some CX tips along the way.

Winner: 2018 Summit Emerging Media Award

The solution received the 2018 Summit Emerging Media Award.
